Day 2 at the AAPM: A photo essay

With bright displays, refreshments and outgoing staff the exhibition hall is a nice break from hours of dense presentations on physics-based medicine. It’s also a great place for the casual visitor to find interesting marketing oddities such as lip balm, rulers for dosemitrists, rubber cell phone holders, and of course lapel pins, pens and notepads. The U.S. Navy had a wide assortment of giveaways alongside its cds and recruitment brochures for the medical services corps.

Dr. Arnold Relman of Harvard Medical School gave a talk called “Technology and the crisis in the U.S. Health Care System” at the President’s Symposium. Relman, pictured at the podium, had a single slide up for his hour-long presentation. The small print says “Slovenian proverb.” AAPM President Gerald White chose Relman to give the talk and give his colleagues food for thought.
